Actors Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt recently came together for Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan 2026, a nationwide public awareness initiative focused on encouraging responsible road behaviour and timely assistance
to accident victims. What Amitabh Bachchan shared from the event
Taking to his blog, Amitabh reflected on a moving conversation he shared on stage with Alia and a woman who had lost her son in a road accident. He highlighted a crucial shift in public policy and mindset around helping the injured at accident sites. According to him, the long-standing fear of police inquiry that often deters bystanders from stepping in has now been addressed. The campaign actively encourages passersby to help victims without fear of harassment and even rewards such acts as a gesture of gratitude from the Government of India.
He also recounted the heartbreaking story of the woman dressed in yellow who spoke at the event. She shared that no one came forward to help her injured son after an accident, and the family later learned at the hospital that timely assistance could have saved his life. Amitabh described her as brave for turning personal tragedy into a public appeal, urging people to act with compassion and urgency in similar situations—without anger or blame, only hope for change.
Alia Bhatt gets emotional on stage
Amitabh further noted a poignant moment when Alia, seated beside the grieving mother, became visibly emotional while speaking about the incident. As a mother herself to a three-year-old daughter, Raha, Alia struggled to continue, her reaction underscoring the human weight of the issue. Amitabh suggested that the incident be used as the emotional core of a campaign—one that prompts people to imagine themselves in such a situation tomorrow and respond with empathy today, potentially saving a life.
What’s next for Alia Bhatt
On the work front, Alia has a packed slate ahead. She will be seen in a fierce, action-led avatar in Alpha, which also stars Sharvari and Bobby Deol. She is also collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Love & War, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, a project currently in production and slated for a 2026 release.
The Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan 2026 event served as a stark reminder that beyond policies and campaigns, it is timely human intervention that can make the difference between life and loss—and moments like these bring that truth home.
