BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya on Thursday hit out at “Pakistan apologists,” citing US government filings to claim that Pakistan contacted senior American officials nearly 60 times following India’s Operation
Sindoor and spent around Rs 45 crore on lobbying efforts to push for a ceasefire.
Sharing details on X, Malviya said the disclosures showed the scale of Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach following India’s military operation last year.
“This is bad news for Pakistan apologists,” Malviya wrote.
“Documents released under America’s Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) show that India’s Operation Sindoor in April last year shook Pakistan,” he said.
According to the BJP leader, Pakistani diplomats reached out repeatedly to top officials in the US administration, lawmakers, the Pentagon and the State Department in an attempt to prevent escalation.

“Pakistan lobbied aggressively through its diplomats in the US to prevent a war, contacting top administration officials, lawmakers, the Pentagon, and State Department officials nearly 60 times,” he said.

“Documents filed with the US Department of Justice under FARA reveal that Pakistani diplomats continued negotiating a ceasefire through emails, phone calls, and one-on-one meetings from late April until after the four-day Operation Sindoor,” he said.
He further claimed that Islamabad spent heavily to gain access to the Trump administration.
“Pakistan, seeking to pause Op Sindoor, spent approximately ₹45 crore to hire six lobbying firms to gain rapid access to the Trump administration,” Malviya wrote.
He also took aim at domestic critics of the government and the armed forces, adding, “Now identify each of those in India who doubted the Indian Armed Forces and Prime Minister Modi. These cretins must be exposed, again.”
Earlier, documents accessed by News18 showed that the lobbying disclosures were filed by Squire Patton Boggs (US) on behalf of its foreign principal, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The filings indicate that Pakistani diplomats and defence officials reached out more than 50 times via emails, phone calls and in-person meetings with US officials, intermediaries and even sections of the American media during the operation.
A previous investigation by The New York Times had also reported that Pakistan sharply increased its lobbying expenditure in April and May.
Operation Sindoor was launched by India in response to a Pakistan-sponsored terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. On the night of May 6 and 7, Indian armed forces carried out strikes on terror camps at nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
India deployed a range of advanced and indigenous technologies during the operation, including precision-guided missiles, long-range stand-off weapons, AI-enabled intelligence and targeting systems, satellite- and drone-based real-time surveillance, and an integrated air-defence and counter-drone network. The strikes targeted terror infrastructure linked to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, including sites in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Muzaffarabad and Kotli, while avoiding civilian and general military installations.
