Bollywood actress and producer Kriti Sanon made history by becoming the first Indian actress to speak at the World Health Summit 2025 in Berlin. Sanon used the global platform to highlight the pressing
issue of women’s health and gender equality. At the high-level session titled “Women’s Health – Global Wealth: Catalysing Returns on Bold Investments,” Sanon, who serves as UNFPA India’s Honorary Ambassador for Gender Equality, urged governments and institutions worldwide to prioritise women’s health.
“Women’s health is not a side issue,” she said. “It is the cornerstone of humanity’s progress, prosperity, and future.”

Sanon pointed out that although women constitute nearly half of the global population, investments in their health remain disproportionately low. She highlighted data showing that for every USD 300 million invested in women’s health, returns can reach USD 13 billion, a nine-fold increase.
“Investing in women’s health is not just a moral imperative; it is a strategic investment in our collective future,” she emphasised, noting that healthier women strengthen families, communities, and economies alike.
The actress also championed the principle, “Nothing about her, without her,” advocating for women’s inclusion in policy-making processes that affect their health and well-being. Drawing on her field experiences, she cited instances of child marriage, inadequate maternal care, and systemic barriers that prevent women from accessing healthcare. She stressed that timely interventions can profoundly improve lives.
Looking ahead, Kriti is preparing for the release of Aanand L. Rai’s romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein, co-starring Dhanush. Set to release on November 28, the film has already generated excitement following the release of its teaser last month.
Kriti Sanon has received several accolades, including a National Film Award and two Filmfare Awards, and appeared on Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list in 2019.
After earning an engineering degree from the Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Sanon briefly worked as a model before making her acting debut in 2014 with 1: Nenokkadine and Heropanti, winning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for the latter. She gained commercial success with films like Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017), Luka Chuppi (2019), Dilwale (2015), and Housefull 4 (2019).
Sanon won the National Film Award and Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her role in Mimi (2021). While films like Adipurush (2023) underperformed, Bhediya (2022) and her 2024 releases Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and Crew were commercially successful.
