Road safety extends far beyond adherence to rules—it is a shared concern and a collective responsibility. Acknowledging this, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways continues to advance its flagship
public awareness initiative, Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan (SSA), urging citizens to view road safety not merely as regulatory compliance but as a duty owed to oneself and to the nation.
Now in its fourth year, Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan is renewing its nationwide efforts to deepen awareness and foster safer road behaviour across the country. Marking the beginning of this phase is the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan 2026 Telethon, thoughtfully designed to engage citizens through meaningful dialogue, creativity, technology, and real-life inspiration.
The 2026 Telethon carries the theme “परवाह से कर्तव्य तक”, highlighting the importance of care, empathy, and respect for every individual on the road. At the heart of the campaign lies a simple yet powerful idea: when people begin to care for one another, responsibility naturally follows. Through empathy and awareness, the initiative seeks to reinforce road safety as a personal responsibility—not only towards fellow road users, but towards the nation as a whole.
This year’s campaign is anchored in four foundational pillars—कायदा (Discipline), कर्त्तव्य (Duty), कवच (Shield), and क्रांति (Change). These pillars form the core framework of the initiative. कायदा underscores the importance of discipline and adherence to traffic laws, while कर्त्तव्य emphasises that safer roads can only be achieved through collective responsibility. कवच represents the role of technology and innovation in enhancing road safety, and क्रांति reflects the deeper transformation in mindset and behaviour that the campaign ultimately seeks. Together, they aim to build a culture where road safety is shaped not only by infrastructure, but by awareness, empathy, and responsible conduct.
Supporting the Ministry’s road safety mission, prominent voices including Amitabh Bachchan, Swanand Kirkire, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, and Kaykay Menon have joined hands to amplify the message of safer roads. Adding a relatable and engaging dimension to the campaign is the much-loved character Chatori Rajani, whose humorous and compelling portrayal demonstrates how even small behavioural changes can have a significant impact on road safety.
The 2026 Telethon will once again bring together distinguished personalities from the worlds of policy, technology, and civil society, including Shankar Mahadevan, Alex Kuruvilla, Kamiya Jani, Dr Eilia Jafar, Vishal Chauhan, and Ravin Mirchandani. Through thoughtful discussions and deliberations, they aim to further the conversation on shared responsibility and safer mobility. A special highlight of the event will be The Anirudh Verma Collective, whose evocative musical compositions promise to embed the message of road safety in public consciousness through an innovative and memorable sonic experience.
The Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan 2026 Telethon is a timely and urgent call for citizens across the country to reflect, participate, and act. It encourages every individual to move beyond viewing road safety as a set of rules and instead embrace it as a duty towards oneself, one’s loved ones, and the nation. Join the movement and be part of a collective commitment to protect lives and create safer roads for all.
