Abhishek Sharma has maintained his hold over the top spot in ICC rankings for T20I batters, while Varun Chakaravarthy remains the world’s top-ranked T20I bowler, even as a few Pakistani stars have made
significant gains following their 2-1 series win over World Cup finalists South Africa at home.
With 925 rating points, Abhishek, recently branded India’s “most important batter”, continues to be the world’s No. 1 T20I batter, followed by England’s Phil Salt at No. 2, while India’s Tilak Varma completes the top three.
Among the bowlers, Chakaravarthy continues to bamboozle batters with his variations and stays atop the rankings with 799 rating points. West Indies’ Akeal Hosein is second with 726 rating points, followed by another spinner in Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan at No. 3.
Meanwhile, a number of Pakistani players have been rewarded for their efforts against South Africa, with Babar Azam (up nine spots to equal 30th), Saim Ayub (up 10 places to 39th), and Salman Agha (up 10 rungs to 54th) all making ground on the list for T20I batters that is still led by India dasher Abhishek Sharma.
West Indies skipper Shai Hope (up two spots to 12th), Bangladesh left-hander Tanzid Hasan (up 20 places to 17th), and Afghanistan duo Rahmanullah Gurbaz (up three rungs to 15th) and Ibrahim Zadran (up six slots to 20th) also make ground up the list for T20I batters this week, while there are eye-catching gains for a host of players on the latest rankings for T20I bowlers.
Australia’s seamer Josh Hazlewood has advanced two spots to 10th place following his performances against India at home.
Bangladesh’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman has climbed 13 places to 14th, while his teammate Mahedi Hasan has moved up six spots to joint 17th. West Indies’ Jason Holder has risen nine positions to joint 23rd, and Roston Chase has ascended 13 places to joint 38th. Zimbabwe’s veteran Sikandar Raza has made a significant leap of 32 places to 33rd overall.
South Africa’s seamer Corbin Bosch has advanced 15 spots to joint 38th after becoming the leading wicket-taker in the recent series against Pakistan. In the same series, Salman Mirza now ranks 45th, and Faheem Ashraf has improved to 51st, both moving up from outside the top 100.
In the T20I all-rounders’ rankings, Raza has climbed three spots to second place, and Chase has moved up six places to third. Ayub continues to hold the top ranking following his performances against South Africa.
