The Indian street food scene continues to amaze people online. In the latest roadside food adventure, a local cart owner converted the traditional Indian bhatura into the base for a unique pizza. Yes,
you read that right!
A stunning video on the internet unveiled this man selling the bhatura pizza near the GTB Nagar metro station in Delhi. In the clip, the man used the bhatura (fried bread), which is usually eaten with masala-laden chole (chickpeas) in what is one of the north Indians’ most favourite delicacies, to prepare his pizza with all the veggies, cheese, oregano and chilli flakes added on top.
Top Burger’s Shocking Bhatura Pizza
A popular Instagram account captured the bhatura pizza in all its elements, while confirming that the cart is known as ‘Top Burger’ in the region. The video starts with the seller taking the bhatura and applying the tomato mix at the base before adding a mix of onion, capsicum, corn, and paneer on top. He then grated loads of cheese over the veggie mix and spread some tandoori sauce and cream cheese as well before putting it in the oven.
What came out of the oven looked exactly like a pizza but with bhatura acting as its base. The seller took a mix of oregano and chilli flakes and spread it over the pizza before handing it over to the customer with some pouches of red sauce.
‘Where Is Chole?’
As the shocking clip of bhatura pizza went viral on the Indian internet, people were initially left stunned by the street food invention and then mocked it with a series of hysterical remarks.
“Chole bhi dalwa leta maza aa jata bhai (where’s chole, should’ve put that on the pizza also),” quipped one individual.
Another person funnily lamented, “Bhagwan maaf nahin Karega bhai tumhen (God won’t forgive you brother).”
“India aur Italy dono mil kar gaali denge (both India and Italy will abuse you together”, joked another user.
The combination of the Indian street food scene and viral reels continues to produce some eye-catching content online. While some inventions have helped expand the range of street food delicacies, many others are truly bizarre and leave you suspicious if they were always meant just for sensationalism and engagement.
