The Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) has accused the Election Commission of not acknowledging or replying to their concerns even as the party gave several examples of the BJP’s violations in the ongoing
Assembly polls and the SIR issue.
Party sources said that a meeting between the Election Commission and a delegation from the All India Trinamool Congress lasted just seven minutes. The Chief Election Commissioner reportedly told the delegation “get lost” during the interaction.
TMC leaders said they received no acknowledgement or reply to their concerns. Also, they claimed to have submitted six examples involving officials linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party and stated that nine of their letters remain unanswered. The party also noted that they were earlier allowed to hold press briefings outside the ECI gate.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, TMC MP Derek O’Brien said, “The Chief Election Commissioner told the delegation of TMC to get lost. We are the second largest opposition in the parliament and this is what Election Commission has told us. So we left the meeting and came out.”
Sources said that Brien also congratulated EC chief Gyanesh Kumar for being the only Chief Election Commissioner against whom notices for removal have been brought in both Houses of Parliament, sources said.
In a post on X, ECI said that it has given ultimatum to TMC on the upcoming state elections. “ECI’s Straight-talk to Trinamool Congress. This time, the Elections in West Bengal would surely be: Fear-free, Violence-free, Intimidation-free, Inducement-free, and without any Raid, Booth Jamming and Source Jamming.”

However, TMC leader, Saket Gokhale denied ECI’s claim saying, “This is a LIE. I was personally present at the meeting. NOTHING like this was said. All that CEC Gyanesh Kumar said to us was “GET LOST”. We challenge the ECI to release a transcript of the meeting. Else we will do it.”
