A Nigerian man has gone viral after sharing why he has no plans to return to the West, citing his positive experiences in India.
Pascal Olaleye, who dropped out of the University of Lagos in 2021 and relocated
to India the same year, took to Instagram to post a video titled “Why I’m NEVER Moving Back to the West After Living in India.” In the clip, which quickly went viral, he listed 10 reasons why he prefers India over the US and Europe.
Olaleye, who said he had faced discrimination and pressure in the West, described India as a place where he feels safe, respected, and free from stereotypes. Among his reasons were the sense of peace, low cost of living, and what he called the absence of “fake hustle culture.”

“I don’t wake up with anxiety here—I actually feel peace,” he explained, adding that he does not feel targeted because of his skin colour, nor constantly reminded of his race. He also emphasised that he felt safer walking at night in India than he did in the US.
Other reasons he highlighted included cheaper rent, natural food, and an environment that allowed him to be himself without judgment. “Most importantly, I feel respected for who I am, not what I look like,” he said.
The video quickly drew mixed reactions from social media users. While many praised the Nigerian man for openly sharing his positive experiences in India and applauded his perspective on cultural differences, others expressed surprise at his comparisons with the West.
“Completely true. India is one country on earth that truly represents freedom,” one of the users said. “He made some repetitive points about his skin colour. I don’t know which city he is in, in India. But if he is in here up in the North, he probably doesn’t understand Hindi; otherwise, he would have known what people say about him,” the other added.
“He’s just lucky, and it’s good to know that he’s having a good time here. May God continue to bless him,” the third commented.
