Amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia, around 3 lakh metric tonnes of LPG loaded in six Indian-flagged ships is currently stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, the shipping ministry informed on Tuesday.
Nanda
Devi, the second Indian ship, carrying 46,500 tonnes of LPG, reached the Vadinar facility of Kandla Port on Tuesday morning.
According to a report published in the Times of India, it has been learnt that there are 22 Indian vessels present in the strait, including six LPG ships, an LNG tanker, four vessels with crude oil, one loaded with chemicals and products, three container ships, and two bulk carriers.
Shipping ministry special secretary Rajesh Kumar Sinha informed that the unloading from LPG carriers Shivalik and Nanda Devi are underway.
Meanwhile, the Shipping Ministry stated that the central government-owned ports are closely monitoring the vessel movements and cargo operations amid the ongoing situation. In addition to this, it is also informed that they are providing necessary support, including additional storage space.
LPG Tankers Shivalik And Nanda Devi Arrived In India
Indian LPG carrier, Nanda Devi, carrying around 45,000 metric tonnes of gas reached Gujarat after crossing the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday. The vessel arrived at Vadinar port in Gujarat.
Meanwhile, the Indian-flagged LPG tanker, Shivalik, on Monday reached Mundra Port on Monday and delivered approximately 45,000–46,000 tonnes of LPG.
Earlier in the morning today, an Indian-flagged oil tanker, Jag Laadki, carrying around 80,800 metric tonnes of crude oil, reached Mundra port in Gujarat after completing its journey from the United Arab Emirates. The vessel had departed Fujairah port on Sunday morning, a day after the port’s oil terminal came under attack, disrupting operations temporarily.
