Vir Das is currently riding high on success for his film Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos. Following the film’s release on January 16, the actor made a surprise theatre appearance and thanked the audience
for watching his film.
The film’s production house shared glimpses on social media, where Vir Das, along with his fellow actor Sharib Hashmi and co-producer Kavi Shastri, was seen interacting with the crowd.
Vir Das Makes Surprise Theatre Appearance
The clip showed audiences giving a standing ovation to Vir Das for his performance in Happy Patel. Vir Das and his team were welcomed with loud cheers and whistles from the crowd. The actor took the microphone and introduced himself. “Mera naam Vir Das hai, and this is Kavi Shastri. Hum dono ne yeh ek bahut he bewakoof picture create kiya hai,” he said on a playful note.
Vir Das continued, “Thank you very much. Humari chhoti si film hai, so thank you very much for coming out today, and I hope it was worth your time and worth your travel and all of that stuff. Please keep supporting cinema like this.”
Vir Das Opens Up About Happy Patel’s Budget
Backed by Aamir Khan’s production house, Happy Patel brings a lighter version of spy movies in the era of films like Dhurandhar, Pathaan, and War 2. During an interview with NDTV, Vir Das revealed that Happy Patel is not only an offbeat film but also an “off-budget” one.
During the interview, Vir shared, “My whole film cost less than the catering budget of Durandhar and Ikkis.” Despite being made on a lesser budget than most spy films, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos has been maintaining pace at the box office. As per Sacnilk reports, over the weekend, the film earned an estimated Rs 4.35 crore net.
Happy Patel Plot And Cast
Happy Patel marks the directorial debut of Vir Das, who also leads the film. The plot revolves around a clumsy yet enthusiastic spy who is sent on an unexpected mission where he meets with uncomfortable truths and consequences.
The film also features Mona Singh, Mithila Palkar, Sharib Hashmi, and Shruti Tawade in other prominent roles. Additionally, Aamir Khan and Imran Khan made cameo appearances, marking their reunion with Vir Das after their 2011 film Delhi Belly.
