What is the story about?
Jasprit Bumrah has long been the backbone of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. The right-arm quick ranks among the tournament’s leading wicket-takers, with 187 wickets in 158 matches since his debut in 2013.
However, the 2026 season turned out to be his toughest yet.
For the first time in eleven years, Bumrah finished with single-digit wickets, managing just four in 13 matches, while conceding runs at an economy of 8.36 – his worst in 11 years. The only comparable phase came back in 2015, when he picked up three wickets in four games, well before his international breakthrough.
Since then, this was the first instance of Bumrah featuring in more than 10 matches in a season and ending with just four wickets.
