Jaipur, Jun 3 (PTI) Isolated places in eastern Rajasthan witnessed light rainfall in the 24 hours until Wednesday morning, while western parts of the state received light rain and dust storms, even as day temperatures
remained below the extreme levels.
Ramgarh in Jaisalmer district recorded the highest rainfall of 15 mm.
Western disturbance-induced rainfall and thunderstorms in the last three to four days have brought down temperatures from the extreme levels recorded in the state last week.
Maximum temperatures in most parts of the state remained around 1-3 degrees Celsius below normal on Wednesday. No heatwave conditions were recorded.
Jaisalmer was the hottest place, recording a maximum temperature of 43.7 degrees Celsius.
Bikaner followed at 43.6 degrees Celsius, while Sri Ganganagar recorded 43.3 degrees Celsius. Phalodi registered 42.8 degrees Celsius, and Barmer and Jodhpur recorded 42 degrees Celsius each.
Churu recorded 41.7 degrees Celsius, Pilani 41.2 degrees Celsius, Kota 40.6 degrees Celsius, Chittorgarh 40.2 degrees Celsius and Sikar 40 degrees Celsius. Jaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 39.5 degrees Celsius.
According to the Met department, a fresh and strong western disturbance has become active over the region and is likely to trigger another spell of thunderstorms, dust storms and rainfall in parts of the state.
Thunderstorm and rainfall activity is likely to intensify on June 4 across parts of Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Udaipur and Kota divisions.
Strong winds with speeds of 60-70 kilometres per hour, moderate to heavy rainfall and isolated hailstorms in eastern Rajasthan are also likely, the Met office said.
The impact of the rains and storms is expected to keep maximum temperatures below 43 degrees Celsius in most parts of the state next week, with continued relief from heatwave conditions likely across the desert state, it said. PTI SDA RUK RUK
