After a certain age, many start feeling that life is slipping out of control. Time feels short, goals feel big, and pressure quietly grows. Recently, cancer specialist Dr Sunny Garg shared a strong reality
check on what really happens around the age of 35 and why this “age is a warning phase.”
According to him, 35 is not about sudden problems, but about “clarity,” which can sometimes “become uncomfortable.” The body begins to react differently.
Late nights take a heavier toll, rest no longer fully restores energy, weight increases more easily, and strength builds more slowly. As Garg observes, “reports may come back normal, but energy doesn’t feel normal.” This stage serves as an early warning; what you choose to do now will shape how healthy and resilient you are in your 50s.
Doctor Says 35 Is A Wake-Up Age, Not A Panic Age
Dr Garg also points out that “You have income, but how many assets? EMIs are running, are investments growing? If you stop working for a month, will your system run or break? This decade is the backbone of wealth creation. At 35, hustle and direction collide. Everyone is busy, but not everyone progresses. Are you working hard or working right? Is your skill set growing or just your workload? If you are replaceable, you are vulnerable.”
Dr Sunny Garg explains that life around 35 starts to feel different in quiet ways. People naturally spend time with fewer friends because “Time becomes limited. Energy becomes selective.” Small issues and drama feel tiring, while calmness feels more important. At this age, a life partner plays a bigger role than before as they “can become your biggest support or your biggest stress source.”
This is also the time when comparison increases. You may see others achieving big things like “selling a startup, someone is settling abroad, someone has financial freedom, and you wonder, ‘Am I on the right track?’ But the truth is, everyone’s race is different.” By 35, the results of past choices begin to show. Health, money, skills and daily habits all grow over time, for better or worse. Being careful and focused now can make the 40s “powerful. If careless, burnout, regret and pressure accelerate.” According to him, “Life doesn’t settle at 35, it takes shape, and the shape you take now will define your future.”
How Did The Internet React
Reacting to the post, a social media user wrote, “Feels like my dad is talking to me.”
Another shared, “I am 36 feels 21. I think it’s just a state of mind. Once you stop fearing what others think, once you stop comparing, and most importantly, once you stop being a victim, you are youthful.”
“Currently going exactly with the same situation as all your words,” a comment read.
An individual stated, “Millennials know the struggle, 35 is the new midlife, and we’re all about thriving over settling.”
Another mentioned, “No matter how many skills you have, everyone is replaceable. I worked for a company for 8 years and one day they restructured. Lost a job in a day.”
One more added, “I am 34. I have been eating one meal a day for the last 6 years. I do squats weekly 2twice. I live below my means. Peace is the real luxury.”
