WWE legend John Cena left his fans mesmerised after undergoing a hair transplant in November 2024. The 48-year-old, who has showcased his fearless attitude in the wrestling ring, was not completely unbothered
by people’s trolling over his bald appearance. After years of being unfazed by such thoughts, the wrestler-turned-actor underwent a hair transplant, and recently opened up about the same.
In a candid conversation,John Cena revealed he was extremely troubled by people’s attitude towards his hair loss, despite trying his best to hide it. The WWE icon recalled that fans were repeatedly pointing out his hair thinning, and told PEOPLE, “As I was trying to hide my hair loss, the audience was bringing it to light.”
John Cena On How Fans’ Concern About His Bald Head Prompted The Decision
Finally, this is when the Heads of State star chose to undergo a hair transplant. “I saw their signs that said ‘The bald John Cena.’ They pushed me into going to see what my options were,” he explained.
In the same conversation, the professional wrestler also opened up in detail about the entire hair transplant process, and how he has been dedicated towards proper hair care since then. He has been following a proper routine of red-light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, shampoo, and conditioner since then. “They (the hair transplanters) don’t do anything except move your hair, one by one, from one area to another,” he described.
John Cena Opens Up On The Stigma Around Hair Loss
John Cena, however, also admitted that he wanted to undergo this process a decade earlier, but only understood its importance recently. “I hate the fact that if there wasn’t so much shame around it, I’d have gotten it done 10 years ago. I thought I was alone, but seven or eight out of 10 men suffer from thinning or baldness. If somebody’s going to sweat me for that, I don’t think there’s any shame in that. It completely changed the course of my life,” he admitted.
John Cena Reveals His Hair Transplant Massively Boosted His Acting Career
The Suicide Squad actor revealed that the hair transplant has opened many doors in his acting journey. Talking about the same, he shared, “A different hairstyle can identify a part that can get me more work, do the thing I love to do,” adding about his titular role in Peacemaker. “This (Peacemaker) has changed my life. It’s a great show that’s more than just action. It’s a love story. It’s a workplace comedy.”
John Cena is counting down the days to retire from professional wrestling by the end of this year. According to him, his primary focus in life is now based on his health and family with his engineer wife, Shay Shariatzadeh.
