Iranian forces are stronger and better prepared than they were when the war with the United States and Israel began in February, an Iranian Army spokesperson said, warning that Tehran would strike American
targets without “geographic restrictions” if Washington launches fresh attacks.
Army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia said Iranian forces had gained experience from their direct confrontation with the US and Israel and were now on higher alert, news agency AFP reported, citing Iranian state media.
“Today, the Islamic Republic’s armed forces… having gained experience from direct confrontation with the United States and the Israeli regime, are on higher alert and are stronger than they were at the beginning of the war. They now possess greater motivation, commitment, and self-confidence,” Akraminia said.
He added that any response would be carried out on the orders of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
“Under the order of the Supreme Leader, the response of the armed forces will be immediate, effective, and without geographical limitations,” he said.
Akraminia also said the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened only if the Trump administration agreed to Iran’s seven conditions.
The warning came amid renewed threats from US President Donald Trump, who said that Washington was prepared to launch another operation against Iran if necessary.
“We’re building more weapons right now in our military than we’ve ever built before. If we have to do the rest of the Iran thing, we’re very much locked and loaded,” Trump said. However, he indicated that he had not made a final decision on further military action.
“I would rather not destroy the rest of the country, if possible, but maybe I’ll have to,” he said.
Trump’s comments came after he partly agreed with US Vice President JD Vance’s assessment that the Iran war and its economic impact on Americans had contributed to the Republicans’ setback in the midterm elections. Trump nevertheless defended the military campaign, saying he would “do it again” if faced with the same decision.
The US President has also claimed that Israel and the wider Middle East would not exist today if his administration had not prevented Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.
