The British Council has announced the GREAT Scholarships 2026–27 for Indian students, offering 12 postgraduate scholarships to support higher education in the United Kingdom. The scholarships are being
offered in partnership with the UK government’s GREAT Britain campaign and are aimed at Indian students with strong academic records who wish to pursue one-year taught postgraduate courses at leading UK universities.
For the 2026–27 academic year, 12 scholarships will be available across a wide range of disciplines, including business management, finance, marketing, psychology, law, STEM, humanities, design, music, dance and other creative arts. Each scholarship provides at least £10,000 towards tuition fees.
Several top UK universities are participating in the programme, including Anglia Ruskin University, Norwich University of the Arts, Queen’s University Belfast, the University of Bristol, the University of Dundee, the University of Reading, the University of Surrey and UWE Bristol. Specialist institutions such as the Royal College of Art, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Royal Northern College of Music and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance are also offering scholarships, highlighting strong opportunities in creative and performing arts.
The GREAT Scholarships are jointly funded by the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign, the British Council and participating universities. The initiative aims to strengthen education ties between India and the UK while improving access to globally recognised academic opportunities.

Speaking on the announcement, Rittika Chanda Parruck, Director Education India at the British Council, said the scholarships reflect the growing depth of the UK–India education partnership. She added that studying in the UK offers students exposure to industry-linked learning, a global academic environment and strong career pathways.
The British Council said the programme will help Indian students build global perspectives, develop in-demand skills and enhance their long-term career prospects through high-quality postgraduate education in the UK.
