NEW DELHI NEWS: Commuters across the National Capital Region could soon have a faster alternative to road travel with the proposed Ghaziabad-Jewar Namo Bharat corridor, which is planned to connect Noida
International Airport in Jewar with Ghaziabad and provide seamless links to Delhi, Noida and Greater Noida.
The proposed 72.44-km corridor has moved to the Detailed Project Report (DPR) stage and is expected to strengthen connectivity between major urban and commercial hubs in the NCR. The project is being planned by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
Unlike the 82-km Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, the Ghaziabad-Jewar route will cover around 72.44 km. According to the NCRTC, it will connect the Noida International Airport at Jewar with Ghaziabad station on the Delhi-Meerut corridor while also providing Metro services along the Noida section.
Ghaziabad-Jewar Namo Bharat Corridor: Key Details
The proposed corridor will be predominantly elevated, with around 71.5 km planned as an elevated section and 1.29 km underground.
A total of 22 stations are planned along the alignment, including 11 Namo Bharat stations. The corridor will also offer metro services, with all 18 stations between Ghaziabad Namo Bharat station and EcoTech-VI planned to cater to metro operations.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 20,640 crore. The alignment also makes provisions for future expansion, with one Namo Bharat station and 11 metro stations reserved for future development.
Noida Airport To Ghaziabad In 35-40 Minutes
According to a report In NDTV, once operational, the corridor is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Jewar airport and key NCR destinations. Travel between Noida International Airport and Ghaziabad is expected to take around 35-40 minutes.
The journey from Noida Airport to Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi is projected to take less than 70 minutes, while travelling to Delhi Aerocity is expected to take less than 80 minutes.
The corridor will have a maximum operational speed of up to 160 km/h, allowing passengers to cover the long distance considerably faster than road-based travel.
Namo Bharat And Metro To Run On Same Track
One of the key features of the proposed corridor is the planned integration of Namo Bharat regional rail and metro services.
According to the NCRTC, the Ghaziabad-Jewar Namo Bharat RRTS and metro services will operate on the same track under the proposal dated December 29.
Ghaziabad will serve as the starting point of the Namo Bharat corridor, while the route will terminate at Noida International Airport in Jewar.
The arrangement is expected to allow the corridor to serve both longer-distance regional commuters and passengers travelling between local destinations in Noida and Greater Noida.
Major Interchange Points On The Route
The corridor is expected to connect several important locations across Ghaziabad, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway region. Surajpur and Greater Noida Knowledge Park are among the major junctions planned along the corridor.
At Ghaziabad, passengers will be able to interchange with the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, providing a direct connection towards Meerut and Delhi. The route will also connect areas including Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida West near Char Murti Chowk, Surajpur, Kasna, YEIDA sectors and EcoTech.
Passengers travelling from Jewar Airport will also be able to access the Noida Metro Aqua Line and Delhi Metro Red Line through planned interchange points.
How The Corridor Could Change NCR Travel
The proposed line is expected to create a faster public transport connection between Delhi and the airport at Jewar, reducing dependence on road travel for passengers travelling between central Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh.
The direct connection could also provide air travellers with a more predictable journey, particularly during periods of heavy traffic on the Delhi-Noida-Greater Noida road network and the Yamuna Expressway.
The corridor is also expected to strengthen connectivity between the rapidly developing areas of Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway region and established urban centres in Ghaziabad and Delhi.
Rs 20,640 Crore Project To Get Multi-Level Funding
The estimated cost of the Ghaziabad-Jewar corridor is Rs 20,640 crore.
According to reports, the Central government will provide 50% of the project funding, with the remaining amount expected to come from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), Greater Noida Authority and the Uttar Pradesh government.
Corridor May Boost Development Along Yamuna Expressway
Beyond passenger connectivity, the proposed Namo Bharat corridor is expected to have a wider economic impact on the NCR.
Improved public transport access to Jewar and the Yamuna Expressway region could encourage economic activity, support new commercial developments and accelerate real estate growth in Greater Noida and surrounding areas.
For passengers, the biggest potential benefit will be a fast and traffic-free connection between Noida International Airport, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Delhi, bringing four major NCR urban centres into a more integrated regional transport network.
