Laxman Utekar’s upcoming film Eetha, starring Shraddha Kapoor, is among the most highly anticipated releases. A few weeks ago, the makers unveiled the intriguing teaser of the film and announced that it
would hit theatres on August 28. However, the film may no longer arrive on its originally scheduled date. According to the latest reports, the makers are considering a change in the release date, with an official announcement expected soon. If the date is revised, it will help Eetha avoid a box office clash with Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups, which is scheduled to release on August 26.
Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha Release Date Likely To Be Moved?
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, Maddock Films is discussing a change in the release plan of Eetha. The team is considering either preponing the release or postponing it. While the final decision has not been announced, the makers are expected to reveal the new release date in the coming days.
A souce told the entertainment portal, “The producers – Maddock Films – are wondering whether to prepone the release or postpone. However, it is clear that they don’t plan to bring the film on the original release date – August 28. In a few days, they are expected to make an official announcement on the change of release date.”
Films Releasing In The Last Week Of August
The last week of August was shaping up to be a busy period at the box office. Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 had already locked August 28 for its release. The sequel brings back actors Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Ranvir Shorey, Parvin Dabas and Tara Sharma. Another film, The Vvan, was also scheduled for the same date but has now shifted to September 25.
Meanwhile, Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups starring Yash, is set to release on August 26. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “There is chatter in the trade that the producers of Eetha want to avoid a clash with Toxic, and it may be a sensible decision. Both films are expected to be major box-office performers, while Eetha has the potential to enjoy an exceptional run in Maharashtra. In the event of a clash, the business of both films could get divided in this crucial market.”
About Eetha
Directed by Laxman Utekar, who recently delivered the successful Chhaava, Eetha tells the story of legendary Marathi Tamasha artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar. Shraddha Kapoor plays the lead role, while Randeep Hooda and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub also feature in important parts. The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films banner.
Based on the extraordinary life of legendary Marathi Lavani dancer Vithabai Narayangaonkar, Eetha celebrates the journey of one of Maharashtra’s most influential folk artists. Revered for her iconic Lavani and Tamasha performances, Vithabai captivated generations of audiences and was honoured by the President of India in 1957 and 1990 for her immense contribution to India’s folk theatre tradition.
The teaser shows one of the most remarkable moments from her life. Shraddha Kapoor is seen performing on stage while heavily pregnant. When she goes into labour, she delivers her baby backstage, cuts the umbilical cord with a stone and returns to complete the performance.
