In a tragic incident, a husk-laden truck overturned onto a moving Bolero in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district on Sunday, killing the driver instantly. The incident unfolded on the Nainital National Highway,
disrupting traffic in the area that falls under the jurisdiction of Ganj police station.
A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing the truck losing control after colliding with the divider and then toppling onto a Bolero moving alongside it and spilling the husk on road. The impact proved fatal, and the Bolero driver died on the spot.
The vehicle reportedly had “Uttar Pradesh Government” written on it.

On receiving information, Superintendent of Police Rampur, Vidyasagar Mishra, along with police personnel from nearby stations, rushed to the scene. With the help of a JCB machine, the body of the deceased was recovered from the severely damaged Bolero. The body was later sent to the district hospital for post-mortem after completing legal formalities, India Today reported.
Briefing the media, SP Vidyasagar Mishra said that relief and rescue operations were immediately launched at the site. Only one person was found in the Bolero and there was no indication of any other person being hurt in the crash.
The SP also highlighted the importance of caution on busy stretches of the highway. He said this accident was a serious reminder for increased vigilance, especially on busy stretches of the highway where traffic congestion is common. Fire service vehicles and police teams were deployed to manage traffic and clear the road.
When asked about reports suggesting the Bolero belonged to the Uttar Pradesh government, the SP said the matter was being verified, as “Uttar Pradesh Government” was written on the vehicle. Efforts were also underway to contact the deceased driver’s family using the mobile number recovered from the scene.
