Delhi-NCR Rain: Rain lashed several parts of the national capital on Monday, bringing relief from humid conditions as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast more showers across Delhi and the National
Capital Region (NCR).
Visuals from Jantar Mantar and Kartavya Path showed steady rainfall as cloudy skies prevailed over the city. The showers brought relief from the humid conditions, while commuters experienced slower traffic movement in several areas.

According to the IMD’s district-level nowcast issued at 4:24 pm, light rain and light thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 30-40 kmph were very likely over parts of South East Delhi, East Delhi, Shahdara, Central Delhi, North East Delhi, South Delhi, New Delhi, South West Delhi, West Delhi, North West Delhi and North Delhi.
The weather department said rainfall activity is likely to intensify on Tuesday and Wednesday, prompting it to issue a yellow alert for the national capital.
Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall over Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. The weather office said residents can expect cloudy skies and intermittent rain for a next few days.

According to the IMD, Delhi recorded a temperature of 26.6 degrees Celsius with 98 per cent relative humidity on Monday morning. Northeasterly winds were blowing at around 9 kmph. At Safdarjung, the city’s base weather station, the maximum temperature is expected to touch 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to remain around 27 degrees Celsius.
While rainfall is expected across the NCR, the IMD said showers are likely to remain localised, meaning some areas could receive brief intense spells while others may remain largely dry.
Despite recent rain spells, Delhi continues to record a 14 per cent rainfall deficit this monsoon season. Between June 1 and July 25, the city received 247.8 mm of rainfall against the seasonal normal of 365.3 mm, though the IMD continues to classify the capital’s monsoon performance as “normal.”
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh is likely to witness intensified monsoon activity over the next few days, with widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and isolated heavy to very heavy showers forecast across several districts.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Lucknow, rain accompanied by thunderstorms was likely at most places across eastern Uttar Pradesh and at many places in western Uttar Pradesh on Monday, with the activity expected to become more widespread across the state on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The increase in monsoon activity is likely to bring relief from the prevailing humid weather over the next two to three days.
The IMD has warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places across the state through July 30. Heavy rain was likely at isolated places in several districts on Monday, while heavy to very heavy rainfall has been forecast for parts of the state on Tuesday and Wednesday.
