The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday announced its first list for the Puducherry Legislative Assembly Elections, naming candidates for nine constituencies in the Union Territory.
The list was finalised
by the BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC), which met earlier this week under the chairmanship of the party’s national president, Nitin Nabin. It was attended by senior leaders, including PM Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, and Amit Shah.
Polling in Puducherry will be held in one phase on April 9, with results to be declared on May 4, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI).

What Happened In The Puducherry Elections 2021?
In the Puducherry Assembly Polls in 2021, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a comfortable majority, with N Rangaswamy of the All India NR Congress (AINRC) being sworn in as Chief Minister for the fourth time.
The NDA won 16 seats, securing a 44.2 per cent vote share, while the UPA bagged eight seats.
Party-wise, AINRC emerged as the largest party with 10 seats and a vote share of 26.2 per cent. The DMK, on the other hand, won six seats with 18.8 per cent vote share.
The BJP also bagged six seats along with a vote share of 13.8 per cent. The Congress, meanwhile, secured two seats with 15.9 per cent vote share.
