Celebrity chef Vikas Khanna’s visit to Mumbai turned into a deeply emotional experience, thanks to a home-cooked meal that brought back powerful memories from his past. The Michelin-starred chef, who was
in the city with his mother, was hosted by Priyanka Chopra’s family, and the evening left a lasting impression on him.
Khanna took to social media to share how rare and special the meal felt, calling it one of the best he has had in a very long time. What made it stand out was not luxury or presentation, but the comfort and familiarity of the dishes.

The chef spoke fondly about tasting gajar halwa that instantly transported him back to memories of his grandmother, saying it felt exactly like the version she used to make. He also described the daal as comforting and soulful, comparing it to the quiet reassurance one feels from an elder at home. Another highlight of the meal was the kharode curry, which Khanna said was cooked to perfection and reminded him of traditional flavours from Kolkata.
He wrote, “Mumbai gave me one of the best meals I’ve had in a long, long time. After years, I tasted Gajjar Halwa that felt exactly like my Biji’s—the kind that doesn’t just feed you… it returns you to your childhood. The Daal Bukhara was a healing hug from an elder in the family. The Kharode Curry was perfection—spot on, like the warmth of Kolkata’s Nalli Kosha. And that Makki Roti… softer than the ones I’ve eaten on Punjab highways in winter.”
The entire spread was prepared by Priyanka Chopra’s brother, Siddharth Chopra, who earned high praise from Khanna for staying true to classic flavours and delivering exactly what was promised. Vikas wrote, “All of this was cooked by the brilliant @siddharthchopra89, just as he promised when he visited with the amazing Neelam. Thank you @drmadhuakhourichopra for hosting me.”

Priyanka Chopra’s mother says her brother was collateral damage
Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Madhu Chopra, had earlier said that the actress’ younger brother Siddharth, did not get enough attention. She said on Something Bigger Show in the past, “Siddharth was the collateral damage to all of Priyanka’s success, because their dad (Dr Ashok Chopra) was working, I was with Priyanka, he just grew up on his own and he was a teenager at that time. He, I think, was collateral damage for me.”
