India batting stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have left for the Australia tour alongside the other members of the squad on Wednesday. The Indian team will be in Australia for eight white-ball matches
including three ODIs and five T20Is.
While Kohli arrived in Delhi from London recently where he’s been staying alongside his family, Rohit landed in the national capital from Mumbai.

A majority of the members of the touring party were already in Delhi including newly appointed ODI captain Shubman thanks to their involvement in the recently concluded 2nd Test between India and West Indies.
Rohit and Kohli will only feature in the ODIs having retired from the other two formats. It will also be the first time that the duo will play a competitive match since the IPL 2025. The final of the 2025 Champions Trophy in March this year was their last international appearance.
Speculations are rife over the ODI future of the duo given their age and by the time the next world cup rolls in, Rohit would be 40 and Kohli 38. India head coach Gautam Gambhir refused to commit that the two batting superstars are in his plans for the marquee tournament slated to be held in 2027.
“Look, 50-over World Cup is still two-and-a-half years away, and I think it is very important to stay in the present,” Gambhir told reporters on Tuesday. “That is very important. Obviously, they are quality players, they are coming back, their experience is going to be a handful in Australia as well. Hopefully, those two guys will have a successful tour, and more importantly, as a team, we will have a successful series.”
The first ODI will be played this Sunday.
