A foreign national living in Mumbai has gone viral after sharing a video comparing everyday life in India and her home country, Germany. In the clip, she listed several things she feels India does better,
from faster mobile internet and affordable plant-based food to trains that are on time and less gloomy weather. She said that life in the country feels more convenient in many ways.
While many social media users appreciated her for sharing positive things about India, others disagreed and argued that some of her points were exaggerated or inaccurate.
Foreign National Goes Viral For Comparing India And Germany
Taking to Instagram, the content creator wrote, “Things that are better in India than in Germany. 5g/4g everywhere, even in the middle of nowhere. Turning sockets on and off. Safety and energy saving. digital clocking in at the workplace. A million plant-based food options. Settings only for vegetarians. Trains are on time and the cheapest. Women-only areas on trains. 99% Sun.”
In the caption, she added, “When Indian Railways starts running smoother than Deutsche Bahn. Germany: fast trains. India: trains that actually show up.”

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Nah, definitely not the sun, who loves getting sweaty 24/7.”
Another shared, “I’ve noticed a pattern: when India is criticised, people rightly point out that stereotypes are unfair and that the good side is ignored. But when someone genuinely highlights that good side, the same sentiment is often met with cynicism about their motives, like saying “she just wants Indian attention.”
“Watching this reel while waiting for my S-Bahn, which is running 12 minutes late,” a comment read.
An individual wondered, “How come the network one is not common in Germany? i thought Western countries had a better cell network.”
Another mentioned, “I can’t believe trains in Germany are not on time and not safe compared to India.”
One more added, “Trains are on time? Which India are you in?”
Content Creator Clarifies Her View
After her video sparked debate, the content creator explained that India and Germany are very different, and it’s not fair to directly compare them. She said Germany has not faced the same challenges India has faced over the years. Despite the differences, she wanted to focus on the good things about India. She also pointed out that running trains on time is much harder in India because of its huge population, while Germany can manage it more easily.
