Vir Das just made his directorial debut with Aamir Khan Productions’ Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos, which hit the theatres on January 16. In his recent interaction with filmmaker Farah Khan, the actor and
comedian gave a tour of his boho-chic Mumbai home.
The Om Shanti Om director fell in love with Vir’s house, which has a special area for pets and is well-decorated with art pieces. She described the space as “eclectic”.
Vir Das’s House Is A Contrast To Mumbai’s Fast-Paced Energy
Vir Das has been living in his Mumbai house for about a year since he left Goa. He described his flat as a “collection of things we love”. The comedian mentioned that there was no decor. “Nothing matches,” he joked.
Warm lighting and somewhat low ceilings contribute to the place’s homely character as it unfolds into a large living area that is immediately welcoming. The tone is created by brightly coloured couches and plush carpets, while wooden tables and cupboards blend in perfectly. Only a few framed pieces of art that showcase Vir’s individual style rather than a carefully chosen aesthetic are used as wall décor.
Farah, who is well-known for seeing the residences of celebrities, quickly recognised the atmosphere. She said she loved Vir’s house as it was “very boho” and “eclectic”. Vir Das mentioned that the cosy corners and relaxed layout of his house contrasted Mumbai’s fast-paced energy.
Special Area For Pets
The furnishings are dominated by Indian textiles and Vir’s passion for art, giving the house an organic, unforced personality. Additionally, the living room has a special area for their pets, emphasising how important they are to the couple’s everyday existence. This area leads into a little dining room with a lovely two-person table.
Natural light is brought in by large floor-to-ceiling windows, and the room is softened and given a hint of greenery with indoor plants and plain drapes. Farah also looked around the large backyard, which is a verdant haven full of potted plants and foliage that is ideal for entertaining guests or relaxing outside.
Besides directing Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos, Vir Das plays the lead role of Happy Patel in the movie.
