Ranveer Singh has been riding high on the success of his recently released action thriller Dhurandhar: The Revenge. While the movie has fans lauding the actor’s performance, it isn’t the first time Ranveer has left
moviegoers mesmerised with his acting. The actor had left a huge impact on everyone when he played Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. Now, the actor’s business partner, Nikunj Biyani, recalls their conversation whereRanveer Singh spoke about which character he found more challenging, Hamza or Alauddin Khilji.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Nikunj revealed, “I saw Dhurandhar first day, first show for both the movies. I loved the film. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, for me, was the best film of all time. I enjoyed part one as well, but part two was something else. We were chatting with him once, and we asked him if he would do something that would be as demanding as Khilji, and he said, ‘This character has been way more challenging for me as an artist; it has taken so much more out of me. I have had to go deep and give it 300 percent; it has been very demanding.’”
In 2019, Ranveer Singh had shared how, to prepare for Alauddin Khilji, he had locked himself in his house. In conversation with India Today, Singh had shared, “I took 21 days and locked myself up in my Goregaon house. I was completely isolated. I kind of isolated myself, marinated into the character because I can’t relate to Alauddin Khilji. I can’t relate to that level of manipulativeness, greed, and ambition. I had to tap into dark experiences, but his worldview is not something I can relate to either.”
More about Dhurandhar
The OTT rights of Dhurandhar: The Revenge have been acquired by JioHotstar. The deal is said to be worth around Rs 150 crore, making it one of the biggest digital deals for a Hindi film. Backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is written, directed, and produced by Aditya Dhar, along with Lokesh Dhar and Jyoti Deshpande. The film builds on the success of its first instalment, which released in December 2025 and earned around Rs 1300 crore globally, receiving both critical and commercial appreciation.
