Uber will be launching special Uber Air Taxis soon. The company will diversify the app’s roster and provide customers with the option to book Joby Aviation’s electric aircraft.
Uber will be partnering with Joby Aviation to enhance its customer facilities. The Uber-Joby partnership will see its first electric aircraft take a ride later in 2026, with the launch of the multi-modal transportation also in the offing across several cities in the world.
Dubai, First To Witness The Uber-Joby Aircraft?
Dubai will be the first city in the world to allow customers to book the Uber-Joby aircraft ride. From the Middle East, the partnership will extend its operations to New York, Los Angeles, the United Kingdom and Japan, where the riders will be able to enjoy a rare and spectacular experience once the approval from the local authorities is received. Customers will be given a one-tap booking option on the application for the services.
In the United States, the Uber air taxi will require the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) approval. For this, Joby’s aircraft are in the final stage of acquiring certification. To bolster its ambitions of giving its US customer base the air-travel facility, Uber has already gone through over 50,000 miles of flight tests across its fleet.
How To Book The Uber Air Taxis?
Step 1: A rider must first open the application on their mobile phone if they are keen enjoy the electric air-travel facility.
Step 2: Upon navigating through the application, a rider will find the choose Joby aircraft option in select cities.
Step 3: After entering in, select the Uber Air taxis option, type your preferred destination and confirm the booking.
“With a single tap, the app seamlessly connects and books every leg of the journey – including Uber Black pickup and drop-off,” said Uber in a statement, calling it a futuristic move. The aircraft, based on the Uber-Joby designs, will be capable of carrying four passengers at a time.
