Mumbai Traffic Diversion For BMC Polls: In view of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Election 2026 on Thursday, the Mumbai Traffic Police on Tuesday announced temporary traffic restrictions
on Veera Desai Road, which will be in effect till January 16. According to an official statement issued by the Mumbai Traffic Police, western suburbs, the movement of vehicles, other than those engaged in election-related duties, will be temporarily prohibited on both carriageways of Veera Desai Road, from JP Road Junction to Mogra Nala, near JP Road, Azad Nagar, and close to the Metro Station in Andheri West. The diversions have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the election process and maintain public safety.

What are the restrictions on Andheri’s Veera Desai Road?
“In connection with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation General Elections 2025–2026, and in order to ensure the smooth conduct of the election process, it has been decided, from the point of view of traffic safety and proper traffic regulation, to temporarily close the movement of vehicles other than those engaged in election-related duties within the jurisdiction of the Oshiwara Traffic Division, from 14/01/2026 to 16/01/2026, on both carriageways of Veera Desai Road, from J.P. Road Junction up to Mogra Nala, near J.P. Road, Azad Nagar, close to the Metro Station, Andheri (West), Mumbai, falling under Ward Nos. 59 to 71, K/West Division. The traffic of vehicles other than those engaged in election-related work shall remain temporarily closed,” said the Mumbai Traffic Police press release.
In view of @mybmc elections, in order to reduce inconvenience for commuters, following traffic arrangements will be in place in Oshiwara Traffic division from 7.00 hrs on 14th January to 24.00 hrs on 16th January.

What is the duration of the restriction?
From 07:00 a.m. on 14/01/2026 to 22:00 p.m. on 16/01/2026.
No Entry
Veera Desai Road (from J.P. Road Junction to Mogra Nala) and (from Mogra Nala to J.P. Road Junction): Entry of all vehicles other than those engaged in election-related work shall remain prohibited.
What are the alternative routes?
All vehicles approaching via the southbound carriageway on Veera Desai Road shall take a right or left turn at Courtyard Junction and proceed via Chitrakut Junction – New Link Road.
All vehicles approaching via the westbound carriageway of J.P. Road shall take a right turn and proceed via New Link Road.
The Mumbai Traffic Police appeals to all motorists and citizens to cooperate by using alternate routes and by following the temporary restrictions to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow.
