Kolkata Knight Riders are taking on Chennai Super Kings in their fifth match of IPL 2026 on Tuesday, April 14. In the fixture taking place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Kolkata Knight Riders players
are wearing black armbands. According to an official message from the KKR spokesperson, the players of the Kolkata-based franchise are wearing black armbands to pay tribute to former Indian cricketer CD Gopinath.
Chingleput Doraikannu Gopinath, who played eight Tests for India from 1951 to 1960, died last week at the age of 96. He was India’s oldest Test cricketer and the second-oldest worldwide, after Australia’s Neil Harvey.
“KKR players are wearing black armbands during the CSK vs KKR match in Chennai tonight, as a tribute to Mr Gopinath,” the KKR spokesperson said in an official message.
