The BJP has accused the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) of being a “pet project” of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), claiming that the student protests held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar last month were aimed at targeting
Prime Minister Narendra Modi rather than seeking education reforms or action over the NEET paper leak.
BJP IT department head Amit Malviya levelled the allegations while sharing a purported video of former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, in which the AAP leader appeared to suggest that those who took to the streets were not merely seeking the resignation of then Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
“Is baar jitne log aaye the sadkon par, wo kis liye aaye the? Wo kewal mujhe nahin lagta ki Dharmendra Pradhan ka istifa mangne aaye rahe. Matlab agar main crude bhasha mein boloon, to Modi ji ko thokne aaye the. (The people who took to the streets this time, what did they come for? I don’t think they came merely to demand Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. To use crude language, they came to take on Modi ji),” Kejriwal could purportedly be heard saying in the video.

PTI said it could not independently verify the authenticity of the video. There was no immediate response from Kejriwal or the AAP to the BJP’s allegations.
‘CJP Was AAP’s Pet Project’: BJP
Seizing on Kejriwal’s purported remarks, Malviya claimed that the Jantar Mantar agitation had nothing to do with education reforms or the NEET controversy and was instead a political project aimed at PM Modi.
In a post on X, the BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit said, “Kejriwal has finally exposed his pet project — the Cockroach Janta Party. The agenda was never accountability or education reform. From day one, it was about one thing: targeting PM Modi.”

Malviya also alleged that CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and “his gang” had deep links with the AAP.
“But after the protest, the cockroaches went rogue, stopped taking Arvind’s calls and forced the insecure Kejriwal to spill the beans on the true motive behind the protests,” he claimed.
Malviya further accused the organisers of using students for a political agenda. “Your children were used as cannon fodder for the AAP and Congress’s political agenda. Never forget that. They could have been hurt, embroiled in violence, or had their lives ruined. But that didn’t happen, thanks to the exemplary restraint shown by the law-enforcement agencies,” he said.
He also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Kejriwal, calling for those who, according to him, had presented themselves as leaders of the agitation before distancing themselves from it to be exposed.
“Expose these charlatans – those who pretended to lead the protest but abandoned it at the right time to save themselves and their sponsors, like Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal,” Malviya said.
Swati Maliwal, Kapil Mishra Attack Kejriwal
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal also hit out at Kejriwal over the purported remarks, claiming that students had been peacefully protesting over their demands until the former Delhi chief minister sought to “hijack the movement and turn it into a political opportunity”.
“Arvind Kejriwal says in an interview: ‘Jo log sadak pe aaye the, wo Modi ji ko thokne aaye the.’ What kind of a language is this? He is casually joking about plans to assassinate a thrice-elected prime minister of India. Does he even know what he’s saying?” Maliwal said in a post on X.
“First he founded, funded and directed CJP, then hijacked the peaceful movement of students and tried to turn it violent as was done in Bangladesh and Nepal!… His dictatorial tendencies are out in the open, and it’s clear that he can do anything to capture power. Such people are a danger to democracy!” she added.
Delhi minister Kapil Mishra accused Kejriwal of using “Maoist-style language” while referring to the prime minister. “This is not a symbol of any ‘revolutionary uprising’ on his part, but rather the final, desperate cry of his moral and linguistic bankruptcy,” Mishra said on X.
Former Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva also condemned Kejriwal’s remarks, saying they reflected his mental state. “He has gone crazy,” Sachdeva said.
CJP’s Jantar Mantar Protest
The BJP’s attack comes against the backdrop of the student agitation at Jantar Mantar last month over the NEET-UG paper leak and demands for changes in the education system.
CJP was among the groups at the centre of the agitation, which continued for weeks and included a protest march planned from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament on July 20.
The demonstration turned chaotic after protesters clashed with police, who used force and tear gas to disperse the crowd. Students continued to gather at Jantar Mantar in the days that followed. Dharmendra Pradhan subsequently resigned as Union education minister on July 25.
