T-Series has firmly shut down claims linking Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Bhooth Bangla and Anees Bazmee’s 2022 film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The production house has categorically stated that
the two projects are entirely unrelated, and that there is no connection between the two films. The clarification comes after reports began circulating that the storyline of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 had been repurposed for Bhooth Bangla. A report in Mid-Day claimed that the script of Bhooth Bangla was initially a draft for a sequel to Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Responding to these claims, the studio rejected any suggestion of script recycling, and stated that they have never received any script from Priyadarshan or his team for making a Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise.
Bhooth Bangla And Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Are Entirely Unrelated, Says T-Series
Shiv Chanana, Co-Producer at T-Series, addressed the matter directly, expressing surprise at the rumours and making it clear that there is no factual basis to the claims linking the two films.“We have also come across some articles, but the fact is we have never received any script from Mr Priyadarshan or his team for making a Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise,” Chanana said. The co-Producer at T-Series stressed that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 were built as original stories, with no narrative connection to each other or to any earlier scripts being cited now.
For the unversed, Mid Day reported that Priyadarshan had developed a draft for a Bhool Bhulaiyaa sequel with Akshay Kumar in mind, which did not move forward at the time. “Priyadarshan had written a draft for a sequel. He was certain that if the franchise were to be taken forward, it would be with Akshay. But things didn’t materialise then. Later, T-Series took the franchise forward with director Anees Bazmee and Kartik Aaryan. When Priyan sir and Akshay decided to reunite, he reworked that draft,” a source told Mid Day. However, T-Series has stated that this is untrue.
Reiterating the studio’s stand, Chanana added, “It is our franchise. If anything has to be developed, it will be developed by us and under our supervision, which is exactly how Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 were made. I don’t understand where these stories are coming from—this was never the case.”
Additionally, as per reports, industry insiders also shared, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa, a unique horror-comedy franchise, is a prized asset in T-Series’ iconic film portfolio. If anyone tries to take leverage of the BB brand, name, or universe by using its name directly or indirectly, the makers will take strict legal action.”
T-Series has urged audiences to rely on official announcements rather than unverified chatter, making it clear that no creative overlap exists between the two films.
