In the Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad elections in Maharashtra, a couple that contested on Congress tickets has won. Elections are being contested for 78 seats for Sangli, Miraj and Kupwad City Municipal Corporation.
From ward number 5 of Miraj, the Congress had given a ticket to Sanjay Mendhe and his wife Babita Mendhe. This couple has recorded a resounding victory. After the victory, the winning candidate pair celebrated.

Meanwhile, an average of 60 percent voting has been done for Sangli, Miraj and Kupwad City Municipal Corporations.
In the elections held in 2018, 62.17 percent voting was done.
Elections to 29 municipal corporations were held after a gap of over six years, with their terms having ended between 2020 and 2023. Of these, nine fall within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), the most urbanised belt in India.
The battlegrounds include Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Navi Mumbai, Vasai-Virar, Kalyan-Dombivli, Kolhapur, Nagpur, Mumbai, Solapur, Amravati, Akola, Nashik, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, Ulhasnagar, Thane, Chandrapur, Parbhani, Mira-Bhayandar, Nanded-Waghala, Panvel, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Latur, Malegaon, Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad, Jalgaon, Ahilyanagar, Dhule, Jalna and Ichalkaranji.
Chief Minister Fadnavis, along with his deputies Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, campaigned extensively across Maharashtra, while cousins Uddhav and Raj Thackeray concentrated their efforts on Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where Uddhav held a rally.
CM Fadnavis led the ruling alliance’s canvassing, traversing the state to campaign for candidates of the Mahayuti, which includes the BJP and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
