H Vinoth’s Jana Nayagan, which was supposed to hit theatres on January 9, is facing major trouble in getting certification from the CBFC. The film, which marks Thalapathy Vijay’s final outing in movies,
has not gotten clarity on its certificate even after multiple hearings in the Madras High Court. Now, with multiple delays, Vijay has shared that he feels bad for the producers of Jana Nayagan.
While speaking to the Editor-in-Chief of NDTV, Rahul Kanwal, Vijay shared his thoughts on the film’s delay off camera. Mentioning what Vijay thought about the delay of the film, Kanwal shared, “He’s (Vijay) made up his mind; he’s given up films. This is his future. He feels bad for his producer, who is suffering on account of Jana Nayagan not getting released. His films could get targeted on account of his presence in politics, which is something he was totally prepared for mentally.”
Vijay also spoke about how he has been planning to enter politics since the post-COVID period, and while expressing his shock over the Karur tragedy, Vijay added that the incident continues to “haunt him.”
Jana Nayagan postponed
For the unversed, Vijay’s Jana Nayagan was supposed to hit theatres on January 9 but was later postponed due to certification issues. “It is with a heavy heart that we share this update with our valued stakeholders and audiences. The release of Jana Nayagan, eagerly awaited on January 9, has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances beyond our control,” the makers announced following the film’s delayed release.
“We deeply understand the anticipation, excitement, and emotions surrounding this film, and this decision has not been an easy one for any of us. The new release date will be announced at the earliest. Until then, we humbly request your patience and continued love. Your unwavering support is our greatest strength and means everything to the entire Jana Nayagan team,” the statement added.
