The Indian men’s cricket team, under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, has landed in Dubai, where, from September 9 to 28, they will compete in the 2025 edition of the Asia Cup. A total of eight teams
will feature in this year’s Asia Cup, the matches of which will be played in T20I format. Upon landing in Dubai, Indian players attended their first practice session on Friday, September 5.
And now, four days ahead of India’s first match of the premier continental event in the Middle East, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav took to X to share a post which is now going viral on the internet.
In the viral tweet, Surya, who will lead India for the first time in a multinational event, shared four pictures from India’s first practice session in Dubai and captioned, “The honour is mine, the journey is ours, here we go.”

Surya last played a T20I match for India on February 2, 2025, against England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and scored 2 runs from three balls. He was horribly out of form in that home series, but in the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League, he silenced his doubters by amassing a total of 717 runs in 16 matches for the Mumbai Indians.
Surya crossed the 25-run mark in all 16 matches of the Asia Cup, and for his super show with the bat, he also won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
In T20Is, Surya overall has 2598 runs to his name in 83 matches. He is India’s third-highest run-getter in the 20-over format of the game.
In this year’s Asia Cup, Surya would like to join Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma in an elite list of Indian captains by winning the Asia Cup title.
