Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed that she was once “fired off” a film project soon after her divorce from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. Paltrow has speculated that the distributor at that time
thought she was “too hot to touch” considering the media coverage around their high-profile break up.
The 53-year-old made the revelation while speaking to Amy Poehler on her “Good Hang” podcast.
The Shakespeare in Love star was recently seen in Marty Supreme, a sports comedy-drama helmed by Josh Safdie.
‘Too Hot To Touch’
“I was supposed to do a movie at one point, and it was like right after the conscious uncoupling thing with Chris, and there was a lot of harsh stuff in the press. I think the distributor was like, ‘This might be too hot to touch’,” Variety quoted Paltrow as saying.
She went on to add that was “great because I was getting a divorce and then I got fired off. So it was so awesome”.
Paltrow remained in spotlight in 2014 after she announced in a lengthy blog post that she and Martin have decided to “consciously uncouple.”
She Understands The Fixation Around Divorce
Back then, the phrase gained significant attention on the internet, with many believing that it might be a pretentious way to highlight a traumatic experience.
Speaking on the podcast, the actor shared that now she does understand the fixation around her divorce announcement.
She said, “Say you had had a really nasty divorce, or your parents had had a really nasty divorce. And then you hear this idea that like, it does not have to be done this way. I think the implicit learning is like, ‘Oh, f***. Like, they are saying I did something wrong’.”
She said that it makes sense to her now.
“I do understand why it was so personal for people,” she added.
About Paltrow and Chris Martin
Paltrow and Martin were together for more than 10 years before they famously announced their split in 2014.
According to People magazine, the former couple first met each other in 2002 while hanging backstage at one of his concerts. Soon after, they started dating and got married. They share two children: Apple and Moses.
Paltrow appeared on the Good Hang Podcast to promote Marty Supreme.
Apart from her, it also features Timothée Chalamet, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara and Fran Drescher.
Taking about the project, Paltrow shared that she is unsure whether people will like it or not, but added that it is a “real swing and everyone’s great at their job.”
