Salman Khan’s most-awaited film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace is not releasing soon. The fresh reports suggest that regulatory hurdles continue to delay its arrival in theatres. Despite undergoing
changes, including a revised title and tonal adjustments, the project is reportedly still far from securing a release date.
Mid-day has quoted sources saying that the makers have not submitted it to the Central Board of Film Certification yet. “At this stage, after making the necessary changes, the team is trying to understand what would be the next steps to ensure its smooth release. No department, whether the Ministry of Defence, the Army, or the CBFC, has seen the film yet,” revealed a source.
It is worth mentioning here that the film was slated to release in April 2026. However, due to several changes, the makers decided to cancel the April release. It was later rumoured that the film might arrive in theatres in May 2026, but with the latest revisions, that now seems unlikely. The team is yet to announce a new release date.
Salman Khan’s Film Avoids Mentioning China In Final Cut? Find Out
According to Bollywood Hungama, the film was initially inspired by a real-life event. However, following a request from the Ministry of Defence, Salman Khan and director Apoorva Lakhia reportedly reworked the project by adding a fictional spin to the narrative. A source told the portal, “Accordingly, he reshot nearly 40% of the film as he added some romantic scenes, backstory, etc. The makers submitted the new cut, hoping that they would get the NOC. But the Ministry still has apprehensions.”
The source further added, “One of the requests to Salman Khan is that China shouldn’t be mentioned in the film. This was communicated to the makers in advance. The cut of Maatrubhumi, which was submitted earlier this month, has no mention of China.” The report also revealed that only members of Maatrubhumi’s core team are aware of how the neighbouring country has been portrayed or referenced without being explicitly named.
