India is currently facing a major flight crisis, with mismanagement at leading airlines like IndiGo causing widespread disruptions. Travelers across the country have found their plans stalled, whether
it’s urgent work trips, personal commitments, or other important journeys. The situation has left many frustrated and anxious, struggling to rearrange their schedules. Amid all this chaos, Karan Johar took to Instagram to share his own experience with travel. The filmmaker opened up about the anxiety he feels whenever he flies and gave fans a glimpse of how stressful traveling can be for him, even under normal circumstances. Karan Johar On Travel Anxiety The director posted a picture of an airplane on Instagram along with a long caption. He began by saying that while it might not matter to most people, but they are free to troll him and referred to his travel struggle as a “champagne problem.” He explained about his travel anxiety and wrote, “First I have a desperate need to reach the airport early (sometimes even before the ground staff have arrived.) Then in the lounge I check my passport and my boarding card 50 times.” He also explained how he anxiously waits for the pilot to announce the expected duration of the flight as if his life depends on it, and then listens intently for updates on the weather along the route. If the weather is clear, the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director can finally relax, but if turbulence is mentioned, Karan finds himself on the edge of his seat, bracing for every bump. He also revealed that on short-haul flights, he checks the flight map every 10 minutes, while on long-haul flights, he relies on a sleeping pill to get through the journey. Karan stated in his post, “Then I feel the desperate need to be hugely polite to the cabin crew (in case of an emergency, they will be kind to the kind) so I smile like a Colgate ad!” He added that he has this urge to say thank you at every given point of time to them.
He also revealed that he gets ready an hour before landing and then rushes to be among the first to exit, overtaking other passengers for no real reason. He added that he has some “packing idiosyncrasies” as well, but promised to share those another day.
Sophie Choudhry replied to Karan’s post, “Someone told me to imagine the bumps like waves in the sea and that the plane is literally surfing the waves. It sounded so cool but it doesn’t work. Those big bumps still freak me out.”
