The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared a few behind-the-scenes clips from the women’s team’s surreal five-wicket win over Australia in the 2025 World Cup semi-final in Navi Mumbai
on Thursday.
Jemimah Rodrigues rose as the match-winner with her stunning 127*, with important contributions from Harmanpreet Kaur (89 off 88) and Shree Charani (two wickets for 49 runs in the first innings. India kept the Aussies down to 338 on the flat wicket in the first innings and chased it down in the 49th over.
The latest one shows the raw reactions of the pavilion after Amanjot Kaur hit the winning boundary to knock out the defending champions and finish the biggest chase in women’s ODI history. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana screamed and ran inside, along with some of the other teammates. Together they crowded Rodrigues, who sat on the ground and cried for a bit before hugging Mandhana and crying on her shoulder.
There were some more wholesome embraces, including between Harmanpreet and coach Amol Mazumdar and Harmanpreet and Mandhana. Then, as Rodrigues collected her Player of the Match award, Mandhana and the rest of the team were seen encouraging the crowd to chant her name and join in themselves.
Rodrigues did a small lap, soaking in the applause, before pointing to someone in the crowd and doing a brilliant guitar celebration like a rock star. Watch it all here:

In another video, Rodrigues is seen entering the team dressing room after everything. Here, she was greeted by all-rounder Sneh Rana, who hugged her tightly, saying, ‘Well done, I am so proud.’ Rodrigues then went and sat alongside Mandhana and Arundhati Reddy, clicking a selfie too. Watch it here:

After the match, she spoke about how Mandhana and Reddy were two of her pillars of strength during her difficult times out of the starting 11, and the bond seemed to show clearly here.
