Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the state’s longest expressway, the 594-km Ganga Expressway, from Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, marking the formal opening of a major corridor
linking eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. A large public event is scheduled near the Sadarpur interchange in Hapur district, where around 5,000 people, along with ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior administrative officials, are expected to attend the launch ceremony. With the inauguration, traffic movement on the expressway will officially begin, opening a new route expected to significantly reduce travel time across the state.
Stretching 594 kilometres, the Ganga Expressway is expected to improve connectivity between western Uttar Pradesh and Prayagraj, offering faster access for both pilgrims and regular travellers. Officials say commuters from Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Baghpat and parts of Haryana will particularly benefit, with the route making same-day travel to Prayagraj far more practical. Devotees are expected to be able to leave in the morning, take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam and return home by evening, a journey that was previously far more demanding.
The improved road network is also expected to ease travel for those heading to Prayagraj for administrative work, business and personal commitments, reducing both travel fatigue and costs.
Two Interchanges In Hapur To Boost Regional Access
According to a report in Jagran, two interchanges have been developed on the Ganga Expressway in Hapur district, aimed at strengthening access for travellers from neighbouring urban centres and adjoining states.
These interchanges are expected to serve as crucial entry points, making the expressway more accessible to residents of Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh. Officials believe this improved connectivity will provide major relief, particularly during peak pilgrimage periods when thousands travel to the Sangam.
Industrial Development Expected Along The Corridor
Beyond transport benefits, the expressway is also being projected as a catalyst for regional development. With the corridor opening, development work in surrounding areas is expected to accelerate. In Hapur district, three industrial zones have already been identified, with authorities anticipating fresh investment and employment opportunities as connectivity improves.
Officials say the project is likely to have an impact beyond mobility, supporting industrial growth and economic activity along the route.
Grand Event Planned At Sadarpur Interchange
Extensive preparations have been made for the inauguration programme near the Sadarpur interchange, where arrangements for seating, refreshments and sweets have been made for around 5,000 attendees.
Among those invited are minister in charge Kapil Dev Agarwal, MPs Arun Govil, Kanwar Singh Tanwar and Atul Garg, along with MLAs Dharmesh Tomar, Vijaypal Aadhati and Harendra Tewatia. Former MP KC Tyagi, BJP district president Kavita Madhare and other officials have also been invited to the ceremony.
The event is expected to mark not only the launch of a major infrastructure project but also the beginning of a new transport and development corridor across Uttar Pradesh.
