Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani have approached the Producers Guild of India to seek ₹40 crore in compensation from Ranveer Singh following his sudden exit from Don 3. However, Ranveer has reportedly
hit back, claiming that the production house is unprofessional and lacks commitment, which has affected the fate of the project.
Variety India has reported that the differences between the two have only deepened ever since Ranveer’s exit from the film. The Producers Guild has also advised the parties involved to take a legal route, as they believe that with neither side ready to compromise, they cannot resolve the dispute. “As an organisation, the Producers Guild of India can intervene only to a certain extent. With both parties standing firm, the guild members advised them to involve their legal teams and resolve the matter through the proper legal route,” a source close to the development informed the portal.
The source further claimed that Ranveer was ready to pay some sort of compensation and was in talks with Farhan up until two weeks before Dhurandhar. However, the amount presented by Excel did not sit well with Singh. The source added, “Ranveer is not agreeing to pay that amount because he bears no financial liability for the losses. He was willing to pay a certain amount just as a gesture of goodwill, which Farhan didn’t agree to.”
The Ranveer Singh Fallout
The first glimpse of Don 3 was unveiled in August 2023, with Ranveer Singh announced as the new face of the franchise. The casting received mixed reactions at the time, but the makers positioned him as the torchbearer of the legacy.
However, after the release of Dhurandhar, reports emerged that Ranveer had exited the project. The situation reportedly escalated, with Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani seeking Rs 40 crore in compensation from the actor for pre-production expenses.
What’s Next for Don 3?
With conflicting reports, franchise uncertainties, and now talk of Farhan potentially stepping into the titular role, Don 3 remains in flux. For now, the official stance from the makers is awaited, but one thing is certain the Don saga is far from over.
