A major outage is being reported by ChatGPT users globally. More than 515 individuals in India have reported issues with Downdetector, suggesting that the outage is impacting many users worldwide.
In the
past 30 minutes, hundreds of users have reported problems with the AI chatbot, according to Downdetector, a website that tracks online service status.
While some users were actually worried about their work getting hampered, the other half were busy triggering a meme fest. Sharing a video, one user wrote, “Everyone running to X to see if ChatGPT is down.”

ChatGPT has experienced several outages in recent months. Here are some notable instances:
– December 26, 2024: A major outage affected ChatGPT and its API globally due to an issue with an “upstream provider,” potentially linked to Microsoft’s infrastructure. The outage lasted several hours, with partial recovery achieved by 2:05 PM PST.
– December 12, 2024: ChatGPT experienced another significant outage, with error messages appearing when users attempted to access the service. OpenAI quickly responded, identifying the problem and working to resolve it.
– June 10, 2025: ChatGPT’s longest-ever global outage occurred, lasting around 12 hours, with India and the US being the most affected. OpenAI hasn’t released a full technical explanation for the disruption.
