An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 struck Morigaon, Assam in the early hours of Monday, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
The tremor occurred at 04:17 am (IST) at a depth of 50 kilometres.
The epicentre was located at latitude 26.37 degrees north and longitude 92.29 degrees east.
“EQ of M: 5.1, On: 05/01/2026 04:17:40 IST, Lat: 26.37 N, Long: 92.29 E, Depth: 50 Km, Location: Morigaon, Assam,” the NCS said in a post on X.
