Kartik Aaryan is all set to wrap up the shoot of Anurag Basu’s much-anticipated yet-untitled romantic drama, which also stars Sreeleela in the lead. According to reports, the team will soon kick off the final
leg of the shoot in Mumbai right after the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, marking the last schedule of the project. As reported the film is eyeing for 2026 release.
As Mid-day has reported that the actor will be resuming the final leg of Anurag Basu’s romantic drama in Mumbai after the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. The entertainment portal quoted an industry insider saying, “The bulk of the film is already shot. Post Ganpati celebrations this month, the team will dive into a 45-day marathon schedule that should take the movie to the finish line.” Sources tell us that the romantic drama will now arrive in theatres in April 2026, aligning with the summer holiday window. A member of the production unit adds, “It will be a straight shoot with no breaks until Diwali, after which we will head into post-production. As of now, the April 2026 target looks achievable.”
Anurag Basu Clarifies Kartik Aaryan’s Next Is Not A Saiyaara Rehash:
Following the remarkable success of Saiyaara, comparisons were made between the Mohit Suri hit and Anurag Basu’s upcoming musical romance. The parallels drawn between the two projects, especially concerning their rockstar protagonists and emotionally charged love stories, have led to speculation that Basu’s film is being rescripted to avoid overlapping narratives. Basu, however, has firmly denied these rumours. “Mohit and I are very close. I’m happy for his film’s success. The only similarity in our films is that the male lead is a rockstar, and the story is about his journey,” he stated, according to Mid-Day.
Basu has strongly refuted this narrative, stating, “In my film, the girl doesn’t have dementia or any [other condition]. We are not rewriting or re-shooting. I knew beforehand that the girl has Alzheimer’s [disease] in Saiyaara. So, why would I write the same [plot point] in mine?”

Anurag Basu attributes the delay to scheduling conflicts. “We have shot about 40 per cent of the film. In August and September, we plan to shoot another schedule in which Kartik will have a clean-shaven look,” he said, pointing out that Aaryan is currently filming Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, which requires a different appearance.
