Managing expenses in Bengaluru has become a challenge for many working professionals, especially with rising rents, transport costs and constant lifestyle spending. Amid this, a Bengaluru man has shared
a few simple habits that helped him save money without making major compromises in his daily life.
The man, Akshay CN, shared the tips on Instagram through his page @bangalore_viral. In the video, he explained how small changes in routine and spending habits helped him reduce unnecessary expenses while still maintaining a comfortable lifestyle in the city.
In the caption of the post, he wrote, “How I reduced my Bengaluru expenses without ruining my lifestyle.”
Living Near Metro Helped Him Save
One of the biggest changes Akshay made was shifting closer to a Metro station instead of moving into a more expensive or trendy area. According to him, the rent initially looked slightly higher, but the decision eventually saved him a lot of money and stress related to travel.
“I shifted closer to Metro instead of choosing a ‘fancier’ area. The rent looked slightly higher initially, but I saved huge money & mental stress on daily commute, fuel & autos,” he wrote.
He explained that reducing travel time and transport costs made a noticeable difference in his monthly spending.
Small Purchases Quietly Added Up
Akshay also pointed out how convenience spending slowly became one of his biggest expenses in Bengaluru. He said things like quick delivery services, frequent auto rides, online subscriptions and small online purchases started adding up over time.
“I stopped using convenience as an excuse for daily spending. Quick deliveries, autos, subscriptions & ‘small’ online purchases quietly became one of my biggest monthly expenses in Bengaluru,” he wrote.
Another habit that helped him save money was planning weekends in advance instead of making last-minute plans. According to him, random cafe visits, pub outings and impulse spending can quietly affect savings without people realising it immediately.
“I started planning my weekends instead of random spending. Unplanned cafe hopping, pubs & impulse outings quietly destroy savings in Bengaluru faster than people realise,” he added.
He Also Spoke About Lifestyle Pressure
In the video, Akshay also discussed the pressure many people feel in Bengaluru’s work culture to constantly upgrade their lifestyle. He said he stopped buying new gadgets simply because others around him were doing the same.
“I stopped upgrading gadgets just because everyone around me was. Bengaluru work culture can quietly create unnecessary lifestyle pressure,” he wrote.
He further explained that many people spend money only to feel socially updated or to keep up with trends around them. A
nother important change he made was cooking at home more often instead of depending on restaurants and food delivery every day. “This genuinely changed both my health & savings,” he said.
Akshay ended the video by saying that earning a higher salary alone does not automatically solve financial problems. “I learned that higher salary alone doesn’t solve money problems. Better habits matter much more in Bengaluru,” he wrote.
Internet Reacts To His Advice
The video quickly drew reactions from users online, many of whom said they related to the points he shared.
A user commented, “Yes this is true.” Another wrote, “I will also implement them.”
A person said, “Yes, I found all of them very relevant.” A comment read, “Agree with you brother.”
