Shakun Batra’s 2016 directorial family drama, Kapoor & Sons, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Rishi Kapoor, Fawad Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Rajat Kapoor in pivotal roles, has clocked 10 years
today, on March 18. Even after a decade since its release, the film still makes it to many moviegoers’ favourite lists.
Sidharth Malhotra on 10 years of Kapoor & Sons
Today, celebrating a decade of the film’s release, Sidharth Malhotra shared how he read the script and ended up with tears in his eyes. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Sidharth said, “When I first read the script, I remember finishing it with tears in my eyes. It felt so real, like stepping into a warm, chaotic Punjabi family where every character had a heartbeat. Playing Arjun was special because he was layered, vulnerable, and carrying so much inside him.”
“10 years later, people still talk about the film, the scenes, and the family dynamics, like they’ve lived with these characters themselves. That kind of love is rare, and I feel grateful we got to bring that story to life,” Malhotra further added.
All about Kapoor & Sons
The film follows the story of two brothers from a chaotic household. Following their grandfather’s heart attack, the brothers travel to Coonoor to visit their parents and grandfather. The brothers had a major fallout after Arjun (played by Sidharth) claimed Rahul (played by Fawad) stole his story and turned it into a bestselling novel.
Kapoor & Sons marked Alia and Sidharth’s second on-screen collaboration after their 2012 debut film, Student of the Year.
Sidharth Malhotra’s work front
On the work front, Sidharth was last seen opposite Janhvi Kapoor in a film that released last year. He is currently working on the upcoming project Vann, which also features Tamannaah Bhatia.
Away from the cameras, the actor is also enjoying a new phase in his personal life. Sidharth and his wife, Kiara Advani, recently welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Saraayah. Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra first met in 2018 at a film party, but it was during the shooting of Shershaah in 2021 that they grew close. Their on-screen chemistry led to rumours, but the two kept things private for a long time. In early 2023, Kiara finally confirmed the relationship with a playful birthday post for Sidharth.
