Eros Innovation, an arm of Eros International, has announced an ambitious new content slate that brings together mythology-inspired storytelling, franchise extensions of popular Hindi films and restored
classics. The announcement was made at London Tech Week on Wednesday.
The slate has been built around three major initiatives: Eros Brahmand, a mythology-inspired cinematic universe; Eros Universe, which will expand some of Indian cinema’s well-known titles into new stories; and Eros Remastered, a restoration and reimagination programme aimed at introducing classic films to newer audiences.
Tere Naam, Rangeela And More To Get New Franchise Stories
One of the biggest highlights of the announcement is Eros Universe, which will develop new franchise stories around six popular titles. The lineup includes Tanu Weds Manu – The Next Chapter, Phobia, English Vinglish, Desi Boyz, Rangeela and Tere Naam.
As per the announcement, these films will not necessarily continue with the same characters or actors. Instead, they will be expanded with new characters and fresh stories. This means Tere Naam is likely to get a spiritual sequel, but Salman Khan may not return as Radhe. Similarly, Aamir Khan and Urmila Matondkar are unlikely to reprise their roles in the Rangeela follow-up.
Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, Rangeela released in 1995 and became one of the most memorable musical hits of the decade. The film also turned Urmila Matondkar into a nationwide sensation. Tere Naam, which released in 2003, remains one of Salman Khan’s most discussed performances. Directed by Satish Kaushik, the film was both a critical and commercial success.
The most closely watched project in the lineup is likely to be Tanu Weds Manu – The Next Chapter. The franchise has already seen two successful films, both starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan in the lead roles. However, it remains unclear whether the two actors will return for the new instalment. The film will be directed by Mitakshara Kumar, known for Heeramandi and The Empire, and will be co-produced with Rudrak Soma Jyoti Limited. It is expected to go on floors in 2026.
English Vinglish starred the late Sridevi in one of her most beloved performances, while Desi Boyz featured Akshay Kumar and John Abraham. Phobia, the 2016 psychological thriller, starred Radhika Apte in the lead role.
According to Eros, these titles will be expanded across films, animation, microdramas and character-led content, allowing the studio to build new stories around familiar screen properties.
Eros Brahmand To Launch Mythology-Based Cinematic Universe
The biggest piece of the new slate, however, is Eros Brahmand. Described as an AI-led mythology-based cinematic universe, the initiative will feature nine original titles inspired by Indian mythology and folklore.
The lineup includes Nandi – War Of Kailasa, Dwaarka: Gateway To The Universe, Vimaan Wars, Mahabharat 5000 A.D., Yakshinis, Brahmarakshak, Garuda, Kumbhayanna and Mansa Devi.
These projects will form an interconnected storytelling universe, with Eros aiming to build a large-scale franchise rooted in Indian mythological imagination. The initiative comes at a time when Indian studios are increasingly looking at mythology, folklore and ancient epics as the foundation for expansive cinematic universes.
Speaking about the announcement, Kishore Lulla, Founder and Chairman of Eros Innovation, said, “We are bringing together original mythology-inspired stories, beloved film titles and classic cinema under one umbrella. Our aim is to create stories that can engage audiences across generations and formats.”
Eros Remastered To Begin With Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyan
The third initiative, Eros Remastered, will focus on restoring and reimagining known titles for a new generation of viewers. The programme will begin with Kochadaiyan, India’s first motion-capture feature film, which starred Rajinikanth.
The film will be restored and reimagined under the creative leadership of Soundarya Rajinikanth. With this, Eros aims to revisit older titles using updated technology and contemporary formats, while preserving their cultural and cinematic value.
With Eros Brahmand, Eros Universe and Eros Remastered, the company is looking to build a multi-format content ecosystem that combines nostalgia, mythology and franchise storytelling. The slate also signals Eros Innovation’s larger plan to use familiar titles and Indian cultural stories to reach audiences across generations and platforms.
