Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over police action against protesters demonstrating over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak,
accusing the government of remaining silent on students’ concerns and demanding an apology.
Rahul Gandhi questioned PM’s silence on what he described as deep-rooted problems in the country’s education and examination system.
“Modi ji has not even apologised for what happened yesterday. The youth are protesting against the education and testing system. The whole country knows that the education and testing system is hollowed out by termites. Why is the Prime Minister silent? He should apologise to the students and stop this nonsense of thrashing students,” Rahul Gandhi said.

His remarks came a day after protesters led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) marched towards Parliament demanding accountability over the alleged NEET paper leak and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The “Sansad Chalo” protest descended into clashes between demonstrators and Delhi Police after protesters attempted to breach security barricades near Parliament. Police used lathis and tear gas to disperse the crowd, leading to injuries on both sides.
According to Delhi Police, more than 118 police personnel, including senior officers, were injured during the violence, while around 60 protesters also sustained injuries. Police alleged that demonstrators attacked security personnel with stones, attempted to break through barricades and damaged public property.
As tensions continued, Union Health Minister JP Nadda on Tuesday visited Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital to meet protesters injured during the demonstrations.
JP Nadda also held talks with a delegation from the CJP, comprising national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka and chief spokesperson Saurav Das. The protest leaders reiterated their key demands, including the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, Rs 1 crore compensation for the families of NEET aspirants who allegedly died by suicide following the paper leak controversy and the release of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is currently hospitalised.
