Fans of Suriya have something exciting to look forward to, as fresh updates about the release timeline of his upcoming film Suriya 46 have surfaced. According to the film’s producer, the much-awaited project
is likely to hit theatres in July or August 2026, following the release of his film, Karuppu.
During a recent press appearance for Vishwak Sen starrer Funky, producer Naga Vamsi was quoted saying, “Suriya46 will release in theatres 3 or 4 months after the release of Suriya’s Karuppu. We want to maintain a sufficient gap between the releases of Karuppu and Suriya46. Karuppu is likely to be released in April 2026, and we can expect Suriya46 either in July or August. The shoot is currently in its final stage, with only five working days left to wrap up. The film explores a love story between individuals with a significant age gap.”
Suriya 46 stars Mamitha Baiju as the female lead, with Raveena Tandon playing a pivotal role. Veteran actress Radikaa Sarathkumar is also part of the ensemble cast. Earlier, there were rumors that the movie had been titled Vishwanathan and Sons; however, an official update is yet to be made.
Announcement post
In June, the makers made an announcement along with the poster. Taking to their X handle, Sithata Entertainments shared the poster and wrote, “The first step towards celebration, emotion and entertainment #Suriya46 shoot begins!” The poster features Suriya in a stylish semi-formal get-up, as the text on the poster read, “and the Celebration begins”. Venky Atluri, known for storytelling with emotional heft in Telugu hits like Vaathi and Lucky Baskhar, will also team up with composer G.V. Prakash Kumar. The film also stars Mamitha Baiju of ‘Premalu’ fame alongside Suriya.
Suriya’s Karuppu
In June 2025, the first poster for Karuppu was released. It was visually intense, immersed in a striking blood-red hue, setting a powerful and ominous tone. At the center is actor Suriya, silhouetted against the red mist, holding a large machete in a commanding pose. His stance conveys confrontation, strength, and possibly vengeance. Surrounding him are religious and ritualistic elements like tridents (trishuls) and towering statues, hinting at a deeper mythological or spiritual layer to the narrative.
The smoke-filled background adds to the mystical atmosphere, while the title Karuppu, meaning ‘black’ in Tamil, is boldly displayed in sharp red typography, suggesting themes of darkness, intensity, and moral complexity. Dropping the poster, Suriya tagged the film’s writer-director RJ Balaji, and wrote, “Here’s our #Karuppu for you..! Wishing you all happiness @RJ_Balaji (sic).”
The teaser opens with power power-packed avatar of Suriya. The scene keeps on shifting. It is set against the village carnival. A voiceover adds gravitas, as Suriya makes a compelling entrance. On July 22, Suriya shared the poster and wrote, “See you tomorrow.”
