Sriram Raghavan’s period war drama Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and the late Dharmendra, has wrapped up its first week at the domestic box office with respectable numbers. The
film has collected ₹24.25 crore in seven days, managing to stay visible despite releasing alongside Aditya Dhar’s box-office juggernaut Dhurandhar.
Day-Wise Performance Shows Sharp Weekend–Weekday Divide
On its seventh day, Wednesday, Ikkis recorded its lowest single-day collection so far, earning ₹1.15 crore. This marked a dip from Tuesday’s ₹1.6 crore, which itself had shown a marginal recovery over Monday’s ₹1.35 crore. The weekday slowdown stands in stark contrast to the film’s weekend performance.
Sunday proved to be the film’s strongest non-holiday day, bringing in ₹5 crore. According to Sacnilk, Saturday’s ₹4.65 crore also marked a healthy jump from Friday’s ₹3.5 crore. The film’s biggest single-day haul came on its opening day, New Year’s Day, when it debuted with ₹7 crore.
Opening Day Boosted By New Year Holiday
Releasing on January 1 worked in Ikkis’ favour, as the holiday significantly boosted footfalls. However, the post-holiday weekdays revealed the film’s limited hold, with collections steadily tapering off after Sunday.
Dhurandhar Continues ToDominate Screens and Revenue
The contrast becomes sharper when Ikkis is compared with Dhurandhar. Ranveer Singh’s period spy thriller continues to earn more than Ikkis’ entire weekly total on individual days, even in its fifth week at the box office. Over the last three days alone, Dhurandhar has reportedly crossed ₹4 crore each day.
With a domestic haul exceeding ₹830 crore, as claimed by producer Jio Studios, Dhurandhar has already emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film ever in India.
A Respectable Run For A Smaller, New-Led Film
While matching Dhurandhar was never a realistic expectation, Ikkis has managed to avoid being completely overshadowed. For a relatively smaller film with a new leading actor, sustaining a seven-day total of ₹24.25 crore against such massive competition is no small achievement.
Other Releases Struggle Amid The Box Office Imbalance
Several other films have fared worse in the same release window, including Sameer Vidhwans’ romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and Kapil Sharma-starrer Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, which is now set for a re-release on January 9 in a bid to revive its theatrical run.
