Deepika Padukone hosted an intimate fan meet last month, on December 18, and photos and videos from the event have surfaced now, on her 40th birthday. One video from the fan meet shows the actress replying
to her fans’ request to see her in a rom-com again. She said that she hopes to make a comeback to rom-coms very soon, and that she and her team are actively looking for love stories and rom-coms; however, very few producers are backing the genre.

As you all know, it is also one of my most favourite genres as an audience and also as an actor. I just feel like the climate right now or the environment right now, I feel like the audience is seeking something else. But if so many of you want a rom-com, I am sure a large part of the public also wants that.” One fan said they want to see her with Hrithik, while another one suggested Shah Rukh Khan. However, Ranveer Singh got the loudest cheers.

Deepika then took her fans’ suggestion, asking whether it should be a theatrical or OTT release. “But if I did OTT, would you all be upset?” she asked. The actress then said that while she and her team are always seeking out good rom-com scripts, very few producers are backing the genre. “But honestly, this is something that even me and my team, we keep looking out for. We are constantly looking for drama, love story, rom-com, these genres, but I feel like there are very few producers backing that kind of content, or very few writers writing that right now. If you come across an interesting book, interesting material, always happy to look at that,” she said.
